The angle of depression of an object is the angle which the eye has to be lowered through from the horizontal in order to look at the object.

The angle of depression is congruent to the angle of elevation.

In other words, angle of depression is the angle between a horizontal line and the line joining the observer's eye to some object beneath the horizontal line.
