Question: What is Area Scale Factor ?

Answer:

When the dimensions of a shape are all enlarged by a linear scale factor k, the area of the shape changes by a scale factor of k2 . The example shows the effect of increasing the dimensions of a rectangle by factors of 2,3 and 4. The number of small rectangles which can be fitted into the enlarged rectangles shows the area scale factors to be 4, 9 and 16.
