This is the name given to any one of the symbols 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 used in our base ten number system. Sometimes the size of a whole number is referred to by giving the number of digits needed to write it, so a number like 5628 is called a four-digit number.
